Psychodynamic Therapy and Psychoanalysis
Psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis are well-documented, evidence-based treatments that go beyond simply modifying behaviors. This approach helps clients explore themselves more deeply, fostering curiosity about their thoughts, motivations, and patterns. Through this work, clients develop a broader understanding of who they are, how they experience themselves, and how they relate to others.
This intensive therapeutic approach can lead to profound shifts in behaviors, relationships, and feelings of self-actualization. It’s particularly valuable if other forms of therapy haven’t produced the lasting, meaningful change you’re seeking.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Children and teens often express their thoughts and feelings through behavior rather than words. Working psychodynamically, we seek to understand the meaning behind a child’s actions through play. Play therapy techniques harness children’s natural language of emotional expression, making it especially effective for younger clients.
Adolescents benefit from both verbal and non-verbal therapeutic approaches. Teens often appreciate having someone to talk with who is neither a parent nor a friend—a neutral space where they can safely explore changes in friendships, school experiences, evolving identity, and the many other developments that arise during this crucial stage of life.
Parent and Coparenting Guidance
Parents benefit significantly from ongoing communication with a child therapist. The more curious parents become about their child’s behavior, the more effectively they can support their child’s growth. This service can complement child therapy or be provided independently.
Through this work, parents gain confidence in their own intuition and parenting abilities. I have particular expertise working with families experiencing separation and divorce, non-conventional family systems, and am attuned to the unique nuances of each family construct.
DBT Coaching
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that integrates mindfulness, behavioral therapy, and biopsychosocial approaches. It serves as an excellent complement to insight-oriented therapies, particularly when addressing depression and interpersonal difficulties, by teaching practical, applicable skills that clients can use in their daily lives.
